Look Beyond Performance and Potential

Dick Daniels, President of The Leadership Development Group, recently reposted one of his June blog posts "What Leaders Will You Develop?". It's an excellent reminder that we need to go beyond performance and potential and really look at how the leadership candidate's capacity, how she develops and works within an organization's culture, how she engages constituents, and what drives her to succeed.

I encourage you to think about how you - as an individual and as a leader in all areas of your life - relate to these 4 concepts of leadership development. Even if you are not in a formal leadership role, you still lead yourself and you do lead others. Each time you come up with a solution and share it, you are a leader. When you offer to help  out a colleague to complete a task or project, you are a leader.

Lead with passion and commitment and you will succeed!

Peace,
Shelly
